    Default Reading Water

Where are the alpha browns laying here on last week of Wisconsin season and why?
When you arise in the morning, think of what a
precious privilege it is to be alive - to breathe, to think,
    to enjoy, to love.

They're in the water, because they can't breathe air.

On a more serious note, it probably has something to do with spawning season, since Browns spawn in the fall, but I'm not sure where to find them.

first thing i look at is the sun. trout hate sun. they will look for broken water or undercuts.
next I look at the banking of the stream banks. the banking upstream tells me where the
deeper cut will be and secondary cuts from raging water.

the feed lanes are important too.

there are two good lays.....the bottom drop at the end of the banking and behind
belly flop secondary hole behind the small piece of land jutting out at the end of the
    bank.

a belly flop is where the big floods in spring jump over that little peninsula and cut a deep or deepest
    secondary hole.

They are right under your feet...
    Why? because they usually are..

I remember fishing the Yellowstone river one time and I looked down and
there swimming right under my nose was a nice fish..
    - so thats my final answer !

    Best be safe..
