If you can only tie one or two flies, a copper John and brassie are two good ones! Don’t be afraid to tie the copper John in different colors. Red is my fav, purple or dark blue are good. I even...

Caught the largest trout I’ve ever caught on a pattern very similar to this one. Was on a private lake in eastern Ore.

I built it myself, solid aluminum. Painted white. I find that large white base reflects light better, and I can build in material troughs.

Built a bigger one, that one in the pic is available....
