Steve, Is that your 1911? If so, do you actually shoot it? Very pretty, but I'm afraid I'd make it a gun safe queen.
Googling some reviews of the pack give a lot more info. Here's just one of many. http://www.deneki.com/2011/05/sage-dxl-typhoon-backpack-review/
Joni,
If I didn't want to use it, I wouldn'ta bought it. Seems like a waste to have that much invested in a reel and not use it for it's intended purpose.

Would be interested in seeing some of the "Corian" grips you come up with. Alas, I could not afford a Colt, so picked up a Remington R1 Talo 1911 in .45 ACP. Looks and feels just like my trusty...
Just picked up a Bill Ballan Baby Heirloom reel ( http://shop.billballanreels.com/product.sc;jsessionid=1213C5D75E0DD55B5995707A136E9236.qscstrfrnt03?productId=3 ) with a perforated side plate that...
Saw this and thought you'd appreciate it 1911 to 2011.

Never had a need to reload until now. With a nice M-1 Garand I have to start reloading or buying .30 cal from suppliers of WWII ammo. Seems as the new .30 cal stuff is hotter than the rifle was...
About 20 minutes on foot or 5 minutes by car to the Nisqually River that holds resident Cutthroat all year, a nice fall run of Sea Run Cutthroat, a fall/winter run of Salmon and once in a while a...
Al and Gretchen are real, salt of the earth people, great to do business with, tie flies with and fish with.
Kerry,
Happy Birthday, my friend. I'll toast your day with a double espresso. Hope you get to spend it exactly as you wish.

I just use seal I get from http://www.feathersmc.com/products/Seal%20Dubbing .
Jeff,
Been away and then saw this thread. Nice spiders, my friend, clean, sparse, and classic, just the way I like them.

I agree with Donald and everyone else. Those are some cracking wee flees that will surely do the business.

Happy Birthday, Char. Hope things are working out for you. Let us know how your doin.

Joe,
No, not that I've noticed and I dress a lot of flymphs on them, with size 12 and 14 being my bread and butter sizes. They have about the same wire diameter as the Mustad 98480 standard dry...
BBW,
I noticed in your pic of your new vise and stuff on another thread, that the tip of your bobbin was covered in a blue plastic thing. It's not just there to protect the bobbin. With some...
Mustad also makes a nice up eye dry fly hook. My favorites for flymphs are sizes 12 and 14. http://www.jsflyfishing.com/cgi-bin/item/HK-045504-0000/54000/Mustad-Signature-R50U-94842-Hook.html . I...
herefishy,
Nope that's not a LAW, but it is a fine vise. I've been tying on one for several years and it is the last vise I'll ever need to own. A very fine fly tying tool.
After looking over the latest batch of images, I have come to a single conclusion. We are the luckiest people on earth as we get to see all of this.
Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. Great shot, John.
Once again, my thanks for your report, and suggestions for gift giving. I'm always on the lookout for good reading material that pertains to fly fishing, especially the history of angling. I've had...
John,
Now that's a picture. Did you have the fish hooked and manipulate the camera? Well done! Anyway you look at it, it's my new desktop.
Well said, Jim. Me too.
Donald,
Very nice to see the patterns. How things have changed in just 6 years. It's nice to see patterns from older members of FAOL as well.
